2019-Q1-2_ASIST Training

Delaware’s Youth ChalleNGe program provides Delaware at-risk youth, ages 16-18, with opportunities for personal growth, self-improvement, and academic achievement. The program is for high school dropouts, those no longer attending, and those failing in high school. The Youth ChalleNGe program is a highly structured military styled, non-traditional educational environment that integrates training, mentoring, tough love, and diverse educational and extracurricular activities.

While we recognize Youth ChalleNGe may not be a good fit solution for every student, with your support, we hope you will raise awareness of the option.

Information session briefings are being conducted statewide. Please see flyer for dates and program eligibility.

We appreciate your willingness to share this opportunity with students and parents who may benefit. Our program has seen “second chances” realized from this program, like:

  • Class 50 graduate Cordell D. who is enrolled at Valley Forge Military Academy
  • Class 49 graduate Hunter M. who enlisted with the Marine Corps
  • Class 48 graduate, Jake H who is studying carpentry at the Delaware Skills Center

These 3 young men make evident the second-chance success that programs, like Youth ChalleNGe, have to offer for our Delaware youth.

For more information, please contact our Youth ChalleNGe Counselor, Mrs. Karen Hughes, at 302.326.7102, or karen.m.hughes18.nfg@mail.mil

On behalf of Major General Carol A. Timmons, The Adjutant General for the State of Delaware, thank you for the continued support of the women and men who serve in our Delaware National Guard and their Families.
