Program starts October 1, 2019 and ends August 31, 2020.

This is an exciting opportunity in an award-winning AmeriCorps program for Military Veterans or immediate military family members. Learn skills and gain certifications that will assist you in gaining employment in the natural resources field.

Perfect opportunity for military veterans, recently retired veterans, active guard and reserve members, military spouses and immediate family members to earn money, gain skills, and earn an education award!

Slots are limited and fill quickly.

Trails/Park Project Team – As part of a team, you will learn and perform a variety of conservation activities including trail maintenance, invasive
plant identification and eradication and park based projects.

Environmental Stewardship Team – you will serve directly with our field experts learning and performing Environmental Stewardship activities.

FBI fingerprint background investigation is required, provided by the program at no cost to participants.

Positions available statewide.

Benefits include:

  • Stipend paid every two weeks
  • Education Award upon successful completion
  • Outstanding training, certifications, and experience
  • Uniforms
  • Admission to all Delaware State Parks
  • Eligibility
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

To Qualify:

  • Must be a military veteran and/or military family member
  • Able to pass State and FBI criminal background check
  • Committed to a full term of service (1700 hours)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S
  • Available some weekends and evenings. Mostly day participation Monday – Friday, 7am-3pm

Job Requirements

  • Able to perform hard physical outdoor work in various conditions
  • Able to learn local flora and fauna
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Able to work as a part of a team and alone with little direct supervision
  • Able to learn and apply program rules, regulations, policies and procedures

NAMI Homefront

A free six-session online class for family and friends of Military Service Members and Veterans.

The class helps families comprehend what the Military Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life, PTSD and other mental health conditions. Topics covered include mental health, communication, handling crises, treatment and recovery.

The program is designed to help family members understand and support their Service Member/Veteran while maintaining their own well-being. NAMI Homefront leaders have personal experience with mental health conditions impacting their Service Member/ Veteran.

Next class starts July 13, 2019!

The DE National Guard’s Youth ChalleNGe program is for high school dropouts, those no longer attending, or those failing in high school. The Youth ChalleNGe program is a highly structured military styled, non-traditional educational environment that integrates training, mentoring, tough love, and diverse educational and extracurricular activities. The Youth ChalleNGe Academy is a 17-1/2 month program that offers at-risk youth the opportunity to get a GED after a 22-week in-resident program located in Laurel, MD. This program is an excellent opportunity for students that cannot conform to a traditional learning environment and are willing to learn but need discipline.

There is no cost for tuition, room, or meals.

Registration open for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Classes – statewide!

Classes are open to all DNG members, our Families, our Volunteers, and the community.

ASIST is a 2-day, intensive suicide intervention skills-training workshop
aimed at those who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in
helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. ASIST provides practical
training and is suitable for anyone in a caring role or working with
vulnerable people, from teenagers upwards. ASIST is the Army-approved
intervention training for Suicide Intervention Officers (SIOs) and
Gatekeepers (personnel most likely to come in contact with suicidal
persons).

ASIST is a 2-day Workshop – you must attend BOTH days.
