Call To Action

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation – along with our partners UTHealth at Houston, National Military Family Association, and Wounded Warrior Project – is launching an exploratory study to measure the impact of caregiving on the children of military and veteran caregivers.

Who’s eligible: Military and veteran children ages 9-17 years old and one of their parents. Participants can, but do not have to be providing informal caregiving services for an injured or ill family member to take part.

What: A 20-25 minute online survey

When: The survey will be open now through June.

Compensation: Children who complete the survey will receive a gift card (electronically) and parents will be entered for a chance to receive an iPad.

Questions? Contact the study’s Principal Investigator, Belinda Hernandez, PhD, at Belinda.Hernandez@uth.tmc.edu.

Honoring military kids!

The annual awards will recognize seven outstanding young people ages 13 to 18. Six of them will represent a branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard — for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life. The seventh award is the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation presented by Booz Allen Hamilton. This award goes to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge.
